XOOPS is a content management system software which is developed in Japan based on PHP. Many kinds of modules are developed, too. So you can easily build and customize an active website whatever you want. You can use many modules and templates which already exist. And you can also develop your own module. You don't need to learn PHP, pearl, Java script or anything like program language.

For module examples

Forum, chat, photo album, video blog, google map, weather, messenger, file manager and so on. Of course you can create your own page and add to it.

And of course you can control your users and passwords.

I researched XOOPS for two weeks, and I learned how to customize it. And tried to integrate many functions into it. let me show you this site. And please feel free to register.

To finalize my final project I was looking for a tool to gather functions which I wanted. And I found “XOOPS” that is a php based and anybody can aggregate many functions. I tried to constract the site “PPM Communication Center”. The following URL is its site.

I'm interested in video chat. But many of Messenger application does not have compatibility between Mac and PC. So I decided to use FMS and make a comprehensive site which my friends would like to use. http://www.influxis.com/demo.aspx This site is very helpful for my project. I wrote midterm paper about the aspect of adding audience participation to an existing television in Japan.

I tried SMIL file and succeeded. SMIL is easy to compose some kinds of media. I think this is helpful to express not only movie but also image, text and so on.

By the way I tried to broadcast my streaming via ITP server and my DreamHost server, but I have not succeeded yet. I tried to broadcast according to Makiko’s advice, but I couldn’t. Anyway I will try to succeed.

I saw some streaming sites. The following site is helpful, because there are collected sites which we can see for free in it.

It has many categories like news, movie, animation, sports and so on. I can find easily what I want. In many streaming sites there are some helpful information, but there are so many commercial films or most of them are kind of junk. When I see them for 10 or 20 sec and if I’m not interested in it, I skip and leave its site. It looks like a channel zapping of tv. And I am sometimes  able to find very funny or helpful things on streaming which I can not see on TV.

 Broadcasting is basically one direction casting from a station to a watcher, but recently DVR is getting popular, so they can skip commercials and see only what they want. In this meaning, the styles of watching tv and internet streaming site are getting similar together.
 In other hand, streaming has a problem of rights management. Broadcasting companies usually have contracts of programs to broadcast by electric wave, but they don’t have contracts to broadcast to internet. But recently changing thought of rights is gradually evolving. They are getting think that too much strict regulations might let users leave. It might take much time, but in near future we can see many programs without noticing whether they are provided via broadcasting or internet.

 But the style of watching streaming is basically active. They sit in front of PC and hit a keyboard and search something interesting. Otherwise the style of watching TV is basically passive. It depends on them, but I think that in these years both styles exist together.
 
 

According to the instruction video of flash video basics, I made a small flv player, but it was difficult. I will complete this later.

Last sunday it was blizzard. I was staying at home all day. I shooted blizzard form my apartment. It was beautiful. I love snow, because I was born in winter. My name “Fuyu” means winter in Japanese.

Las Vegas in 2002

4 years ago I went to Las Vegas with my friend. We stayed at Venetian hotel which concept is Itally. We enjoyed some shows, buffet and casino. we anticipated that we won, but… we lost much money. But enjoyed so much. As my memory, I made this short music clip.

 In addition, I changed my blog. First I used Blogger, but I tried WordPress. So I realized WordPress is easy to use and have many functions. I imported my posts from Blogger.  I also tried “feedburner” for Blogger. I suceeded to feed RSS.
